About Highveld Garage Equipment

Highveld Garage Equipment CC has been equipping South African workshops since 1985. For more than forty years we have supplied, installed and serviced the equipment that motor workshops, tyre fitment centres, dealerships and fleet operations depend on every day — vehicle lifts, tyre changers and balancers, wheel alignment systems, diagnostic equipment, compressors, lubrication equipment and the tooling that goes with them.

We are a South African business, based in Pretoria and supplying workshops across the country. Buying workshop equipment is a long-term decision, and we have built the company around what happens after the invoice as much as before it.

Since 1985

More than forty years supplying the South African motor trade, through every change in vehicle technology it has seen.

Our own technicians deliver, install, commission and service the equipment we sell.

Parts kept moving

Spare parts and service back-up for equipment that has to earn its keep every working day.

Four decades in the South African motor trade

HGE was established in 1985, when a workshop's most complex piece of equipment was a two-post lift and a wheel balancer. Since then vehicles have gained electronic braking, multiplexed wiring, hybrid and electric drivetrains, and driver assistance systems that have to be recalibrated after a simple wheel alignment. The equipment a workshop needs has changed completely, several times over.

Staying useful to our customers through those changes is the whole business. Forty years of trading also means something practical for a buyer: equipment bought from us a decade ago can still be serviced, and we are still here to answer for what we sold.

What we supply

We carry a broad catalogue rather than a narrow specialisation, so a workshop can equip a complete bay — or an entire premises — from one supplier, on one quote, with one point of contact for support afterwards.

Alongside the major equipment we stock the consumables and hand tools that keep a workshop running — sockets and spanner sets, timing and specialist service tools, air tools, jacks and lifting gear, and workshop furniture. Browse the full catalogue or send us a list and we will quote it.

What happens after the sale

Most of what separates suppliers happens after the equipment is paid for. A vehicle lift that cannot be commissioned, or an alignment system with a fortnight's wait for a spare, costs a workshop far more than the price difference on the original quote.

  • Delivery and installation

We deliver nationally and our own technicians install and commission equipment on site, rather than leaving it crated on your floor.

  • Servicing and breakdown support

Scheduled servicing and repair work carried out by technicians who know the equipment, because they installed it.

  • Spare parts

We hold and source parts for the equipment we supply, including machines that have been in service for years.

  • Training

Operator training so that the equipment is used properly and safely from the first day it is switched on.

  • Technical advice before you buy

Tell us the work you do, the vehicles you handle and the space you have, and we will tell you what actually suits — including when the cheaper machine is the right one.

Who we work with

Our customers range from single-bay independents to franchised dealership groups, and the advice changes accordingly.

Dealership workshops

Equipment that meets manufacturer standards, with the documentation and calibration records that go with them.

General workshops and fitment centres

Durable, serviceable equipment sized to the work and the floor space, from a supplier who answers the phone.

New workshops

Complete bay and premises fit-outs, planned in the order the work needs to happen and quoted as one project.

We are the appointed South African agent for a number of the equipment brands we supply, and we support those ranges with parts and service for the life of the machine.
