Terms and Conditions
Last updated 7 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to every quote, order, delivery, installation and service provided by Highveld Garage Equipment CC (registration number CK85/005300/23) ("HGE", "we", "us"), whether you order through this website, by email or by telephone. By creating an account, requesting a quote or placing an order you agree to them.
We sell to businesses and to members of the public. If you buy as a consumer, you also have the rights given to you by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA). Nothing in these terms takes those rights away; where a term conflicts with them, the law applies instead.
2. Your account
- You need an account with a verified email address to request a quote or place an order.
- Please keep your details — including your billing and delivery addresses — accurate and up to date. You can change them on your customer dashboard.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- We may suspend or close an account that is used fraudulently or in breach of these terms.
3. Prices and quotes
- Prices are in South African rand (ZAR) and include VAT unless stated otherwise. Delivery and installation are not included unless a quote says so.
- Prices are subject to stock availability and current exchange rates, and may change without prior notice. The price that applies to your order is the one confirmed when we accept it.
- Approved trade customers may see trade prices when logged in. Those prices apply only to their own account.
- A quotation is valid for 7 days from the date it is issued, subject to stock availability.
4. Orders
- Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed only when we confirm your order in writing, after checking stock and price. The automatic "order received" email you get when you place an order acknowledges it; it is not that confirmation.
- If an item is out of stock, or was shown at an incorrect price, we will contact you before going ahead. You can then choose to accept an alternative, wait for stock, or cancel that item for a full refund of anything you have paid for it.
- We may decline an order, for example where a product cannot be supplied or a pricing error is obvious. If we do, we refund anything you have paid.
5. Payment
- All orders are paid in full before goods are released for delivery or collection. We do not offer credit on website orders.
- You can pay by EFT or by SnapScan, which also accepts credit and debit cards. For EFT, use your order number as the payment reference and upload your proof of payment on your account page. Our bank details are on the EFT payment instructions page and on your quote.
- An order counts as paid only once the funds have cleared in our account.
- An order to be paid by EFT that is still unpaid 7 days after it was placed may be cancelled, and the stock released.
6. Ownership and risk
- Goods remain the property of Highveld Garage Equipment CC until they have been paid for in full.
- Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to your delivery address or collected from us.
7. Delivery and collection
- We deliver throughout South Africa and, on request, to neighbouring countries. Delivery is quoted separately for each order and is not included in the order total unless stated.
- For deliveries outside South Africa, customs duties, import taxes, clearing and any other charges in the destination country are for your account.
- Delivery dates are estimates. We are not liable for delays caused by couriers or by events outside our reasonable control.
- You are responsible for offloading. Heavy equipment such as vehicle lifts and tyre machines needs a forklift or enough people to offload it safely; please arrange this before the delivery arrives.
- Please check your delivery on arrival. Report any damage, shortage or incorrect item within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs, so that we can claim from the courier. Where possible, note visible damage on the delivery note before signing it.
- You may collect your order from our premises at 42 Taaifontein St Montana Pretoria once we have told you it is ready: Monday to Thursday 08:00–17:00, Friday 08:00–16:00 and Saturday 08:30–12:00, excluding public holidays. Please bring your order number.
8. Installation and service
- Installation, commissioning and servicing are quoted separately and are only included in an order where a quote says so.
- Before installation you must provide suitable space and supply as specified for the equipment — for example a level floor of the required strength, the correct electrical supply, compressed air where needed, and clear access for our technicians and the equipment.
- If our technicians arrive and the site is not ready, a call-out fee at our current rate will be charged and the installation rebooked.
9. Warranty
- Products carry the manufacturer's warranty that applies to each product. Warranty claims are handled through HGE — please contact us rather than the manufacturer.
- If you buy as a consumer, you also have the implied warranty of quality under section 56 of the CPA for six months after delivery.
- The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, consumable parts, damage from misuse, overloading or accidents, installation or repairs by anyone other than HGE or an installer we approve, an unsuitable electrical or air supply, or a failure to service the equipment as the manufacturer requires.
- We may need to inspect the equipment to assess a claim. Where a claim is valid, the product will be repaired, replaced or refunded as the manufacturer's warranty and the law provide. Call-outs to your site for warranty work may be charged unless the warranty covers them.
10. Returns and cancellations
Returns, the cooling-off period for online purchases, restocking fees and refunds are set out in our Returns Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Safe use of equipment
Workshop equipment — lifts, jacks, presses, compressors and similar — must be installed, operated and maintained by suitably trained people in line with the manufacturer's instructions and the applicable health and safety legislation. You are responsible for using the equipment safely and within its rated capacity.
12. Limitation of liability
- As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to a product or service is limited to the price you paid for that product or service.
- As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of income, profit or business, or downtime of your workshop.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or injury caused by our negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the CPA.
13. Product information on this website
We take care to describe products accurately, but photographs may be illustrative and specifications are supplied by manufacturers and may change. Please ask us if a specific detail matters to your purchase. Errors and omissions excepted (E&OE).
14. Privacy
We handle your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. You agree that the courts with jurisdiction in Pretoria, including the Magistrate's Court, may hear any dispute about them.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows when they last changed. An order is governed by the terms that applied when it was placed.
